Sixties Style

When we think of 1960s fashion, we picture lots of

Colour                                                                               Flowers & Patterns

Tie Dye                                                                      Loose-fitting cottons

The 1960s also brought us leather boots, mini skirts, and false eyelashes became standard. The “bouffant” look, carried over from the 50s, was still popular. The “beehive” hairstyle became popular in the early 60s, and other hair styles which resulted in very teased, very tall hair.

The 1960s were also the start of a big drug community, when people were open about smoking weed and taking hits of acid. It wasn’t just a recreational activity, but an entire culture, which affected the fashions and trends. The “beatnik” style became popular in the early 60s as well, which largely consisted of black slacks, dark glasses, float shoes, and black berets.

In 1964, we were introduced to the styles of the “space age”. We were experimenting with different materials such as metal, plastic, and leather. Metallic and neon colors were everywhere.

In 1965, “Op art” became another trend, which used a lot of geometric shapes and contrasting colors to create optical illusions.

Mini skirts became a lot shorter. In 1966, it was all about psychedelic clothing. Bold and vivid “acid colors” were used.

In 1967, we were experimenting with more fashions from other cultures. The Oriental look became a big hit, as well as styles from Africa and the Middle East. The Vietnam War had younger people caring about politics more than ever, as they were being sent to war and losing loved ones.

People were beginning to realize that the war was wrong, and so began the hippie movement and the fight for peace. At the end of the 60s, we transition fully into the Hippie look. Long skirts and dresses, long hair, body and face paint.

It wasn’t just about fashion, it was about making a statement!

I have always been a lover of this iconic era & this Good Friday moi is gonna join the beautiful Wendy Bolger and all her fabulous friends in celebrating 1960's in true Sixties Style!!!!!

Save Our Date

Save the Dates have become more and more popular for weddings with people living on all corners of the globe it can sometimes be a big trip to attend a wedding!
Dave and I have both lived in many different countries, so we wanted to make sure as many of our closets friends could make the big day. So we decided to do a Save the Date and in typical Moi style 'IT HAD TO BE DIFFERENT!'

I so loved the preparations, it took a bit of brainstorming to come up with the idea of a stop motion movie but once we did it all flowed! I really love those special moments before an event, you try to think of everything but of course can only prepare so much and after that life gets involved and it becomes real. Exactly what happened with this, it didn't turn out exactly how I had imagined... it was Better!

Given the fact that we had gone to the effort to get up for sunrise I was initially disappointed that it rose right after we finishes filming! I didn't have the heart to ask the beautiful Dave to redo anything as we'd done it all in 1 shot so I just said feck it! Now on reflection the colours look great so cool & crisp and I love the subtle change of light in the background!

Will you be my Bridesmaid / Groomsman . . .

In asking my bridesmaid the meaningful question of Will you be my Bridesmaid, moi wanted to give them something they couldn't say No to!
Inspired by a post by Amandapair I designed the following fold out cards . . .

not to make the Boys feel left out & because it was a giggle I got Dave to join moi . . .

In the madness that was the lead up to our Engagement Party I have just one picture of the cards completed, taken on my iPhone it's not the best quality.

I was so pleased with how the cards turned out
& the whole bridal party seemed to love them too!
success... x
